The product that made chemical exfoliation mainstream before The Ordinary existed. Pixi Glow Tonic uses 5% glycolic acid - a gentle enough concentration for daily use but effective enough to deliver visible results. Aloe vera and ginseng soothe while the glycolic works. The result is the 'glow' the name promises: brighter, smoother skin by morning. At 22 EUR for 250ml, the value is excellent (compare to Paula's Choice BHA at 35 EUR/118ml). The limitation: 5% glycolic is entry-level. If you've already been using acids for months, you'll likely need something stronger. But as a gateway to chemical exfoliation, Glow Tonic is perfect.
How to use
Soak a cotton pad, sweep across clean face AM or PM. Don't rinse. Follow with serum and moisturiser. Start 3x/week, build to daily. SPF mandatory. Can also be used on neck and decolletage.
Who is it for?
Best for: exfoliation beginners, dull skin, first-time acid users, uneven texture. All skin types. Less ideal for: experienced acid users (5% may be too gentle), very sensitive/rosacea skin (even 5% glycolic can irritate).
What to expect
Week 1: brighter complexion. Week 2-4: smoother texture. Month 1+: more even skin tone, reduced dullness. Results are subtle but consistent. It's a gentle daily polish, not a dramatic peel.
Common mistakes
1. Expecting dramatic results at 5% (it's gentle by design). 2. Using with other exfoliants same routine. 3. Not using SPF after. 4. Applying to broken/sunburned skin.
FAQ
Glow Tonic vs Paula's Choice BHA?
How it compares
Both are glycolic acid toners. TO is 7% (stronger) at 9 EUR/240ml. Pixi is 5% (gentler) at 22 EUR/250ml. TO is better value AND stronger. Pixi is gentler and has a more pleasant texture (rose water). For beginners, Pixi is safer. For value + efficacy, TO wins.
