Pure retinol at 0.5% in a squalane base - 7 ingredients total. This is retinol stripped to its essence. No fragrance, no filler, no marketing fluff. The squalane carrier prevents the dryness that retinol typically causes, making this one of the most tolerable mid-strength retinols on the market. At 6 EUR, it costs less than a coffee and delivers a clinically-proven active at effective concentration. The only concern is BHT (a preservative with minor safety debates), but at this price-to-efficacy ratio, nothing comes close.
How to use
Apply 2-3 drops to clean DRY face in the PM only. Start 2x/week, build to every other night, then nightly over 4-6 weeks. Always follow with moisturiser. SPF mandatory every morning. Do NOT mix with AHAs/BHAs on the same night. The squalane base means no extra oil needed.
Who is it for?
Best for: anti-aging beginners who have used 0.2% retinol first, acne (retinol is comedolytic), hyperpigmentation. Not for: retinol beginners (start at 0.2%), sensitive/rosacea skin, pregnancy.
What to expect
Week 1-3: possible dryness, peeling, mild irritation (retinization - normal). Month 1-2: smoother texture, fewer breakouts. Month 3+: visible improvement in fine lines, dark spots, overall skin quality. Full anti-aging results take 6-12 months.
Common mistakes
1. Starting nightly (build up slowly). 2. Applying to damp skin (increases irritation). 3. Skipping moisturiser after. 4. Using with AHA/BHA same night. 5. Not using SPF. 6. Giving up during retinization (temporary, lasts 2-4 weeks).
FAQ
0.2% vs 0.5% vs 1% retinol?
How it compares
TO 0.5% costs 6 EUR. PC 1% costs 58 EUR. PC has added ceramides and squalane for a more luxurious formula. But the active (retinol) is the same molecule. For most people, TO at 0.5% is the smarter starting point. Move to PC 1% if you want maximum strength after building tolerance.
